At Scovell Wolfe & Associates, we value the time and the financial investment of our clients, and we always keep the clients’ best interest in mind. That’s why if we find that your current home is simply not suited to accommodate your proposed remodel, we will tell you.
In some cases that attic you wanted to convert into new living space just doesn’t make financial sense, can’t be done or would require so much money and work you would end up overspending with too much invested for your neighborhood to support. Another case would be if the existing roof line is such that the new addition you’re envisioning looks more like an appendage than a room that has always existed.
In these kinds of situations, many of our clients have turned to Jim Scovell who, in addition to being a Certified Remodeler, holds his Associate Brokers’ license in both Kansas and Missouri under the Kansas City Better Homes and Gardens Realty banner to find a home that will better suit their family and remodeling desires.
Since there is no such thing as “the perfect” house, Jim can walk real estate clients through visualizing all that can be done to a home before they ever even put the offer in.
It’s this understanding of both the remodeling industry and the real estate market that allows Jim to give clients the most knowledgeable advice possible… Whether they’ll get a return on their kitchen remodel or whether they’ve out priced themselves for the neighborhood… perspective like this that makes Scovell Wolfe and Associates rise above the rest.
For the person out there not quite finding that “perfect” home but finding one that’s close, Jim Scovell can help with questions you might have about how and how much it might cost to get the house to where you want it. Jim will meet you at the home you are considering buying and share his opinion of the overall general condition of the house as well as the feasibility of and the possible cost of the your desired improvements.
During the one hour or so meeting, Jim is happy to walk you through what the cost of your ideas might be by providing a reasonably close ball-park range for the remodel. This number, however, is based solely on historical data and past experiences. It is meant to simply give you an honest idea as to whether your potential projects are structurally feasible (most are), and within your budget before putting an offer in on a home. Too many buyers purchase homes based on the false belief that they can thereafter add a room, remodel the kitchen or finish the basement for about half of what the true cost usually is.
With his 25 years of experience as both a Remodeler and a Residential Broker in the Real Estate industry, Jim’s approach to looking at a house is incredibly valuable and insightful. If you’d like to arrange to have Jim consult with you prior to purchasing a home, call our office at (816) 361-5959. The fee for this service is $125.
